Area Forecast Discussion

.KEY MESSAGES...

 - Elevated fire weather conditions today and Sunday within the
Burney Basin and the northeast foothills due to low relative
humidity and breezy southwesterly to westerly winds.

 - Increasing heat across interior northern California late next
   week, with Moderate HeatRisk.

&&

.DISCUSSION...

Seasonable temperatures continue through early next week, with
highs in the 90s across the Valley. Warmest conditions in the
northern Sacramento Valley. Winds will be breezy out of the
southwest to west, along with onshore flow today and tomorrow.
Winds gust up to 25mph out of the southwest to west across the
northeast foothills, Burney Basin, and areas in the northern
Sacramento Valley towards the higher terrain. Minimum RH values
today and tomorrow drop into the teens to potential single digits
in the Burney Basin and northeastern Foothills bringing elevated
fire weather concerns through tomorrow. The driest conditions will
be this afternoon and evening. None the less, we will continue to
headline the Elevated Fire Weather Concerns for the Burney Basin
and northeastern Foothills through tomorrow due to the low RH
combined with the breezy southwesterly to westerly winds.

Looking at the synoptic pattern aloft, the ridge of high pressure
dominating over central CONUS will start to push back toward the
southwestern United States early to mid next week helping to dry
conditions out further and increase our temperatures. There is
increasing confidence in widespread moderate HeatRisk end of next
week and into the first couple days of August, with probabilities
of exceeding 100F around 50-70 percent across the Valley. We will
be monitoring the heat as we move through the week and determine
the need for any heat related products by the end of the week and
into the first days of August. We will also be monitoring the low
RH values that come along with the heat across the area.

&&

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions continue through the TAF period, with breezy
surface winds through the afternoon and evening hours. A few gusts
to 20kts will be possible for the TAF sites through 04z.
Otherwise, winds go light overnight with a few clouds to clear
skies.
