.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 136 AM CDT Thu Mar 26 2026
Another very warm day will be seen this Thu as SRLY winds
increase...and the upper ridge keeps expanding towards the region.
Highs today will be in the 80s for most areas...with some low 90s
also possible. Mild conditions will continue tonight...with lows
only dropping into the 60s for most areas.
On Fri...a cold front will drop south through the state...with some
increased POPs forecast along/behind this front. The best POPs look
to be across the NRN sections of the state. Highs on Fri will range
considerably...with highs only in the 50s and 60s across the
north...but 70s and 80s are expected across central to SRN sections.
Temps by Sat morning will drop into the 30s and 40s for most areas
as SFC high pressure moves towards the state. Some areas over NRN AR
will see temps in the low to mid 30s...with some potential for patchy
frost or maybe a light freeze. Very dry air and elevated winds may
keep widespread frost from forming however...and frost potential may
be limited to more sheltered locations where winds relax further.
Very dry air will settle across the region for the weekend...with
min RH values dropping in the 15 to 30 percent range for both Sat
and Sun. This dry air...combined with some elevated winds and
drought conditions...will result in increasing wild fire threat.
SRLY flow will return early next week...with temps increasing back
well above normal as upper level ridging returns to the region.
Chances for rainfall will remain low until beyond this
forecast...with the potential increasing later next week.
