.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 255 AM MDT Thu Mar 26 2026
A cold front is moving through east Idaho early this morning.
We are seeing some breezy conditions along the front and winds
are near wind advisory levels. At this time, winds seem to be
meeting criteria in a few isolated areas. So we will hold off on
an advisory unless we see winds pick up. This front is moving
through dry with just some mid to high level clouds. We should
see clearing skies in the afternoon with cooler, more seasonable
temperatures today. The cool-down is short lived as the ridge
will reestablish itself for Friday and into the weekend.
Friday`s highs will climb back into the 60s across many of the
valleys. By Saturday, the Snake Plain and Magic Valley will once
again be in the 70s and near record highs once again.
We are looking at a pattern change for next week. Monday should be
the last day for record heat as a cold front should arrive Monday
Night into Tuesday. Ahead of the front, gusty winds are likely once
again on Monday. This front and the associated shortwave trough will
produce unsettled weather into at least Thursday. Early indications
show 0.25 to 0.50 inches of precipitation with this next system.
Snow levels look like they will remain high, probably over 7000
feet. Temps will cool off for Tuesday and beyond, closer to normal.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 255 AM MDT Thu Mar 26 2026
Expect gusty winds today behind a cold front. SUN looks like it
will probably stay downvalley all day. However, there is a
30-40% chance that they could shift to upvalley or a crosswind
in the afternoon. There is an outside chance for showers this
morning around IDA and DIJ (less than 20 percent). If they
develop, they would probably be virga showers and not lower
ceilings/visibilities below VFR.

.PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
