.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1219 PM MDT Thu Mar 26 2026

Winds for today are peaking as of the Noon hour or have peaked,
depending on location. Winds will slowly diminish this
afternoon, before rapidly shutting off after sunset. Until then,
do expect some blowing dust out there as Spring plow season
continues. Temperature-wise, today will be the coolest until
Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. We will see a rapid return to
60s and 70s across lower elevations. That puts highs 10-20
degrees above average AGAIN, and likely close to, if not
record- breaking, during this stretch. It does appear breezy
again Sunday afternoon across northern areas. Right now, we are
not looking at anything requiring headlines, but we will need to
watch trends and also be on the lookout for blowing dust.

Changes initially begin Monday and really switch gears by
Tuesday or Wednesday. Even with an increase in clouds and
potential for showers, temperatures will not be much different
than the weekend. Monday will see stronger winds vs. Sunday, so
there is another potential day where we may need wind headlines
and also be aware of blowing dust issues. Consensus is for at
least the middle part of next week, we will see low pressure
over the West. That will be a decent shot at rain and snow,
along with temperatures back into the 40s and 50s.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 1109 AM MDT Thu Mar 26 2026

Gusty west to southwest winds continue across East Idaho in
post-frontal environment. Winds still expected to abate late
this afternoon into the evening, dropping below 15kts sustained
by sunset for all sites, then becoming light and variable
overnight. DIJ the only site with appreciable cloud cover late
this morning, which should continue to dissipate through the
afternoon as drier air mass works into the region. All sites
remain VFR.
