.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 445 AM CST Sat Jan 24 2026
- A significant winter storm is ongoing and will continue through
Sunday.
- There is a high chance (at least 80%) of snowfall accumulations
of 6+ inches across at least north central and central Oklahoma.
- Lower snowfall totals across southern Oklahoma and northern
Texas, with significant sleet accumulations.
- Dangerously cold wind chills will continue through Monday, with
wind chills below 0F likely each morning.

.NEAR TERM...
(Rest of tonight through Saturday)
Issued at 1151 PM CST Fri Jan 23 2026
Snow and sleet are ongoing across the forecast area. Mping reports
and CC on radar both suggest a transition line keeping most of the
sleet confined to the southern third of Oklahoma and north Texas.
Freezing rain chances have gone down as the cold air has come in
stronger. This has also shifted our QPF slightly southeast.
Moderate to heavy snowfall will continue through the morning hours,
before tapering off during the afternoon hours. By the end of the
first round, we should have around 3 to 6 inches in central Oklahoma
and 2 to 4 inches in western and northern Oklahoma, with a steep
gradient in snow totals somewhere around an Altus to Ada line.
Wind chills this morning will range from near -20 degrees in
northwest Oklahoma to the single digits in southeast Oklahoma.
Maximum temperatures will be capped in the single digits and teens
for most of the area.

.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday night through Sunday night)
Issued at 1151 PM CST Fri Jan 23 2026
Precipitation intensity will pick back up Saturday evening, marking
our second round of snow. HREF suggests a low chance for 1 inch per
hour rates along the I-44 corridor overnight. Sleet will initially
be possible in southeast Oklahoma, but this transition line should
shift southeast of our forecast area leaving us with only snow.
Overall, this round will yield additional snowfall totals of 4 to 7
inches near the I-44 corridor, with lesser amounts tapering outward.
Wind chills will again be dangerously cold sunday morning, ranging
from near -15 degrees in northwest Oklahoma to -5 in southeast
Oklahoma. Maximum temperatures will struggle to get out of the teens.
Cold weather continues into Monday as morning wind chills again fall
into the -10 to -20 degree range. Maximum temperatures will rise
into 20s.
Day
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Monday through next Friday)
Issued at 1151 PM CST Fri Jan 23 2026
Cold and dry weather will dominate most of next week with highs
mainly in the 30s and lows in the single digits and teens. Models
are showing another wave come down late in the week, allowing a
return of low precipitation chances next weekend.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 445 AM CST Sat Jan 24 2026
Snow is noted across much of the area this morning, though it
looks as though sleet is lingering in south central/southeast OK.
Another wave will arrive from the TX panhandle to much of the
Oklahoma part of the CWA this morning. Potential for visibilities
to drop below 1 mile will be coupled with potential for ceilings
to drop below 1,000 feet. After a brief lull later this afternoon,
a final round of moderate to potentially heavy snow is expected
this evening and tonight. Winds will remain out of the north.
